Adelanto, CA

Adelant, a city in San Bernardino County, California, is about 9 miles northwest of Victorville. The population was 18,130 as of the 2000 census. Adelanto, which means progress or advance in Spanish, was first given to the post office that was established on the site in 1917. El Mirage Dry Lake, located west of Adelanto, is popular for has been used for filming movies and television commercials as well as for racing off-road vehicles and land yachts.
